the traveling photographer

I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.

tell me, what else should I have been doing?

tell me, what else should i have done?

-mary oliver

I am a complicated creature.

Really, we all are. There are so many factors going into the things we do, the choices we make, the people we are.....and even, the photographer we hire. Right now, I don't want to tell you "About Me," in the typical fashion. Instead, I want to start with why.

Because when I start with WHY I do this, rather than how I do it, or what I do, then I believe you'll be able to understand me on a far greater level. You'll feel in your heart and in your gut if we are meant to work together.

This past year our family was shocked when my husband was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety. Once the shock wore off, we began to notice all the signs that we had been missing before. Most people think OCD is just a bad case of "neat freak," when in reality it's a lot more complicated, scary, and life-altering than that. In order to help with some of the symptoms, Adam got a new job. And while that did improve some things, it also meant he was now away from his family even more. After six months of that, we decided this is not the life we wanted for ourselves. We know we only have this one wild and precious life to live, and we wanted to spend it together.

So when I say this business of mine has my heart - I mean it. Because now, my family is depending on it. We're taking this journey hoping and praying that families and couples will see the beauty and love that I strive for within my own relationships, and trust me to capture that within theirs.

We hope our story inspires you to seek out and live your highest form, to make the most of your wild life. For us, that means adventure. That's why I'm here.

And perhaps, that's why you are, too.

i'll bet you didn't know

1. I love nicknames.

I'll never introduce myself as "Meg" but it sends my heart a flutter when people call me by it.

i'll bet you didn't know

2. i'm a cryer.

My emotions used to embarrass me, but now I use them to my advantage! I anticipate authentic moments, empathize  on a deeper level, and love fiercely.

i'll bet you didn't know

3. i'm a mormon

I am a daughter of God.
I love Him, and He loves me.

i'll bet you didn't know

4. i put hot sauce on everything

We buy Tapatio's in bulk....and I'm the only one that eats it.

i'll bet you didn't know

5. i hate cleaning

....and am looking forward to squeezing us all into a smaller space as we travel because less space = less cleaning.

i'll bet you didn't know

6. i have a major sweet tooth.

My weaknesses include gooey cinnamon rolls and hot s'mores  cooked over a fire (make sure those are gooey, too)

i'll bet you didn't know

7. I memorize my library card number

It's just as important - and more often used - than my social security number!

i'll bet you didn't know

8. I used to be a cheerleader

And not because I had the best toe-touches or dance moves, but because I liked being in front of the crowd and had a big smile. My enthusiasm won over the coaches more than anything else.
